EVALUATION AND GRADING SYSTEM


Students go through an ‘On-going Evaluation’ system through the Academic Year. They are evaluated in their academic subjects, their conduct and co-curricular activities. Approximately every five weeks, students receive a progress report that shows the progress they achieve in their academic programmes, conduct, residential programmes and activities.

 

 

The Academic Grading is based on a scale of 0-100 percent, and the Conduct Grade in a 1 to 5 rubric.

 

 

Academic Grades

A+             =              95 % Above           Outstanding

A               =              86 – 95 %              Excellent

B+             =              76 – 85 %              Very Good

B               =              66 – 75 %              Good

C               =              56 – 65 %              Satisfactory

D               =              45 – 55 %              Concern

E               =              Below 45 %          Review

 

 

Effort and Conduct Grade

1                =              EXEMPLARY

2                =              GOOD

3                =              SATISFACTORY

4                =              UNSATISFACTORY

5                =              CONCERN

 

 

General /Specific Skills

1                =              Substantially exceeds the standard.

2                =              Exceeds the standard.

3                =              Meets the standard.

4                =              Less than acceptable performance on standard.

5                =              Does not meet the standard.

 

NA             =              Indicates an area not graded during reporting.

Students are graded through a cumulative structure for the Mid-Term and Final Term Evaluations. Please refer to the following Cumulative Structure for your grading.

Monthly Grade Evaluations:

Students are evaluated in each subject for their Monthly Grade Evaluations through:

·         A series of written, oral, aural tests

·         Project works,

·         Presentations                                                    

·         Quizzes

·         Assignments

 

 

 

Term Grade Evaluations: (Mid-Term and Final Term)

Students are evaluated in each subject for their Term grade evaluations through:

·         Dedicated 2 to 3 – hour examinations in each subject.

·         A certain percentage of their monthly grade evaluations.

 

 

 

 

 

 

GRADE POINT AVERAGE (GPA)

The Grade Point Average (GPA) will be calculated according to student’s achievement in weighted subjects according to the following table:

HONOUR ROLL

Honour Rolls will be posted at the end all Monthly Grade Evaluations of the Mid-Term and Final Term Grading Period.

Principal’s Merit List

 

 

 

The Principal’s Merit List will be posted at the end of the Monthly Grade Evaluations, Mid-Term and Final Term Grading Period. Students included on the Principal’s Merit List on the basis of the following:

 

 

 

 

·         ‘B’ and above in all weighted and non- weighted subjects

 

·         ‘A’ or ‘A+’ in at least one weighted subject

·         ‘2’ and above in all the Conduct Grades

 

 

 

Principal’s Good Conduct List

 

 

 

The Principal’s Conduct List will be posted at the end of the Monthly Grade Evaluations, Mid-Term and Final Term Grading Period. Students included on the Principal’s Conduct List on the basis of the following:

 

 

 

 

·         ‘2’ and above in all the Conduct Grades.

 

·         A minimum grade of a ‘D’ in each of the subjects.
